I play the bass, here, in Austin, Texas with a variety of artists around town including many different singer songwriters and the band Rival Waves. I’ve been playing for over 40 years and learn something new everyday.
This was a gig I did a few years ago at the KUTX 98.9 Studio 1A, here in Austin, for a local singer songwriter named Christina Cavazos. We filmed 3 song performances that day, all in one take, if memory serves. This particular song is one of my favorites, it’s called, “Get By”. I was also fortunate enough to have recorded the bass part on this song and many others on Christina’s records as well. It’s super fun to hear you’re playing on the radio I must say. Charlie Magnone, who plays keys in this video, is currently touring with Parker McCollum as his musical director and keyboard player and the other two musicians, Brian Patterson, on guitar, and Beau Johnson, on drums, play around Austin with a variety of artists as well. They are all fantastic musicians and a joy to play with.
One of the bands I play with, Rival Waves, recorded an album back in late 2019 called A Meaningless Chaos, and due to Covid, we did not release it. We recorded it at The Bubble here in town with, Frenchie Smith as the Producer/Engineer. We had planned to play a bunch of shows that spring of 2020, including SXSW here in Austin but that was all cancelled of course. Anyway, we just released the single from that record, called 100M, and had a release party at the Empire Control Room, in Austin, on 4-27-2023. They’ve been playing it on KUTX 98.9, here in Austin as well, which is super cool. We’re releasing the record this August of 2023. Here’s the video…..

Opening for Okilly Dokilly tonight at Empire Control Room & Garage in Austin. It’s a sold out show and the last for Okilly Dokilly.
Had a fun time back on stage with Nichole Wagner for her annual birthday bash at Captain Quackenbush’s Coffeehouse. It was my first time playing live in about 18 months due to Covid 19 and it felt good to be back playing again. We played 22 songs, most of which were original songs by Nichole…the songs are great check them out when you get a chance.
I’ve been playing with Rival Waves for over a year and we are proud to release our latest single, Meaningless Chaos, from our latest record, Meaningless Chaos. We recorded the record at the Bubble with Frenchie Smith as producer. Check it out!
